Here are some commonly asked questions with answers.

Question: Is your shop open to the public?

Answer: We are open to the public not just contractors or woodworkers.


Question: Do you have minimum purchases?

Answer: Minimum purchase is a board. Exception to this is 12/4 and 16/4 lumber can be purchased in less than

full board quantity as long as the remainder is saleable.


Question: What are your regular hours and are you open on holidays?

Answer: Our regular hours are Monday through Thursday 8 AM to 5 PM, Friday 8 AM to 4 PM, and Saturday 9 AM to 3 PM.

We are closed New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Sometimes we close for an additional day with these holidays for a long weekend. So please check are website

for special hours during those holidays.


Question: Do I have to phone orders in before I come?

Answer: No. In fact most customers want to pick the lumber themselves so they can get the best lumber for their

project.


Question: Can I get my lumber planed and ripped one side?

Answer: In most cases, we can plane and rip one side while you wait.

Exception is if you have a large order or our equipment is set up for a special order.


Question: Why is your lumber racked in the rough rather than planed?

Answer: Our customers personally choose their lumber so lumber is being handled by many people before purchase.

If lumber is planed just before you take it home, it will have a clean, project ready surface.


Question: Do you deliver?

Answer: We can deliver or make arrangements for delivery for a fee. The cost is dependent on the amount of material

to be delivered and where it must be delivered. Call for a quote.


Question: Can I choose my own lumber?

Answer: Yes, we encourage everyone to select their own lumber.


Question: Do you take credit cards or debit cards?

Answer: Yes, we accept Mastercard and Visa in debit and credit cards. We do not accept Discover or American Express.


Question: Do you accept personal and business checks?

Answer: Yes, we accept both providing you have adequate identification and provide us with a contact number.


Question: What does 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 8/4, 12/4 and 16/4 on your Hardwood Price List mean?

Answer: These are the thickness measurements of the lumber: 4/4 is 1", 5/4 is 1 1/4", 6/4 is 1 1/2", 8/4 is 2",

12/4 is 3" and 16/4 is 4". These are standard terms in the wood industry.


Question: Is your lumber green or kiln dried?

Answer: Almost all of our lumber is kiln dried to industry standard of 6% to 8%. We do stock limited supplies of green lumber

(not kiln dried) which is used for survey stakes and some exterior projects.


Question: Can you plane or do other milling on wood that I already own?

Answer: Maybe. If the lumber is clean and free of nails and other foreign matter, we can probably process it.

Question: What is a board foot measure of lumber?

Answer: It is a method of measuring random width and length lumber. It is calculated by multiplying the length in

in feet by the width in inches by the thickness in inches and dividing by 12.

A 12 foot long board that is 12" wide and 1" thick is 12 board feet (BF) of lumber.

A 12 foot long board that is 6" wide and 1" thick is 6 board feet (BF) of lumber

A 12 foot long board that is 12" wide and 2" thick is 24 board feet (BF) of lumber.


Question: What is a lineal foot measure of lumber?

Answer: It is a method of measuring lumber that has been milled on all four sides.

A 10 foot long board that is 3 1/2" wide and 3/4" thick is 10 lineal feet (LF).

A 6 foot long board that is 7 1/4" wide and 3/4" thick is 6 lineal feet (LF).


Question: What is torrified wood?

Answer: Torrified wood is wood that has been subjected to a high controlled temperature. This process changes the

molecular structure of the wood so it is more stable and rot resistant.


Question: Do you have flooring in stock?

Answer: No, we do not stock flooring. All of our flooring is custom made to your specifications of species, widths,

lengths and face character. We make premium and natural character floors. Our customers specify the amount

of face character to be included in their flooring. Our lead time for custom flooring is relatively short.


Question: Do you stock mouldings?

Answer: We stock some common mouldings. Most mouldings are special ordered because there are so many possible

profiles to choose from as well as a large selection of wood species. Our lead time for custom mouldings is usually short

(longer if profile knives have to be cut).


Question: Can you duplicate the moulding that I have in my house?

Answer: Yes, we can duplicate most mouldings. Profile knives may have to be cut.


Question: Can you resaw lumber?

Answer: Yes, we do have resaw capability and can resaw boards up to 12" wide. We can also resaw lumber that you own as

well as lumber that you buy from us.


Question: Can I get boards or tops sanded after I glue them up?

Answer: Yes, we have a sander that can sand boards or tops up to 36" wide.
